    1. This book approaches the problem of sprawl from in a unique and non-divisive way. It Orfield starts by refuted the assumption that the "suburbs" are rich and cities are poor. 3. This is an important book in understanding why America's metropolitan regions (where most of the nation's population live) have the problems they do and even more importantly suggests a method whereby the issues of dying inner ring suburbs, cities with weak tax bases, congestion, sprawl, etc. can be remedied -- or at least spread more equally among citizens.

    4. Another Urban Planning book but one of the better ones. Actually has really good information about cities, race, gentrification, education, etc Might recommend this to Kelly or Rachel since there is a lot in there on education.

    5. With beautiful mapping and clear writing, Myron Orfield explains how local political boundaries translate into gross inequity within a metropolitan region. Plus, ideas on coalition-building to make it better. I own the book but am keeping it.
