    1. Anne Barwell says:

Anne Barwell lives in Wellington, New Zealand She shares her home with two cats who are convinced that the house is run to suit them this is an ongoing discussion, and to date it appears as though the cats may be winning. In 2008 she completed her conjoint BA in English Literature and Music Bachelor of Teaching She has worked as a music teacher, a primary school teacher, and now works in a library She is a member of the Upper Hutt Science Fiction Club and plays violin for Hutt Valley Orchestra. She is an avid reader across a wide range of genres and a watcher of far too many TV series and movies, although it can be argued that there is no such thing as too many These, of course, are best enjoyed with a decent cup of tea and further the continuing argument that the concept of spare time is really just a myth.

    1. A nice clean romance. Although the focus seems to move to Joel relationship with his estranged father as the story continues, rather than the romance between the two leading men. Maybe because they seem to be doing the relationship well, after the obstacles are being cleared (like Marcus weird ex!)

    2. A Joyfully Jay review. 4 starsI couldn’t resist this story when I read the blurb. I love the combination of found family and blood family, and I thought it was a great set up to get these two guys together. This book is sweet, and I liked both the MCs and the secondary characters. There was a realness to all the characters that I really enjoyed. One of the lovely things about this book is that it’s set in New Zealand, and that gives the whole story a flavor that was really intriguing. I thoug [...]

    3. This was a sweet hurt/comfort romance set in Wellington, New Zealand. Joel is a music teacher at a local school and is still not quite over his ex-boyfriend, and Marcus is a landscaper who is moving to Wellington after a break-up. Marcus' sister is married to Joel's college roommate and best friend. Neither is looking for a relationship, but with family/friends in common, they meet early on. There's interest on both sides, and as the book progresses, we see a sweet romance develop. The book has [...]

    4. Moving on was never easy for both Marcus and Joel. But they needed it.After some bad relationships in the past, it's quite hard to believe that they'll find a true love. Both were so stubborn to admit their feeling to each other if not for Darin, Elle and Isabel playing matchmakers. Aahfamily, sometimes we do need them, huh?I liked the idea of the story, I liked the chemistry between Marcus and Joel. The music background for the story gave the story a soul. This is a clean romance, the sex is def [...]

    5. It is never easy to face the breakup of a long-term relationship, and while people react to it in different ways, shying away from the next potential commitment is an understandable and, I suspect, fairly common reaction. Joel and Marcus are both dealing with the consequences of an ex quitting on them, so when they meet due to loving meddling of family and friends, neither of them is ready to contemplate something more permanent. But they can’t deny the attraction they feel and Fate has other [...]

    6. An easy to read romance about Joel, a music teacher, and Marcus, a gardener/lawn mower, who get pushed together by friends and family. I feel like I should have liked it more, but honestly there wasn't a huge wow-factor for me.

    7. 3 HeartsThis is a very light read in every way. Light on the romance, light on the drama, light on the character development and light on the intimacy. It’s not a bad book, it’s just so light that I feel like I needed more substance to really enjoy the story. Joel and Marcus met years ago when Joel’s best friend Darian married Marcus’ sister Ella. Both men had an attraction to the other but both men were in relationships at the time and were respectful of that. Over the years, random enc [...]

    8. Review originally posted on Just Love Reviews: justlovereviews/2018/01/0The writing was good, but I just really couldn’t get into this book.My main problem was that most of the book didn’t even have anything to do with their relationship. Half of the book focused on Joel preparing for an upcoming concert, and then half was about his relationship with his dad. This led to the intimacy in the book being mostly situational instead of something that grew organically between the two MCs. Situatio [...]

    9. I was given a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads. This is the story of a slow, simple romance between two very ordinary men. Joel is a music teacher. Marcus is a landscape gardener. The story focuses on the lead up to an important high school concert that Joel is organising. This is gentle romance and I found the mundane domesticity of the story pretty tedious at times. There isn’t really any excitement at all. It’s a low heat romance with a cute cat and a cute kid at the [...]

    10. This story isn't just a story of two men finding each other and falling in love. It is also the story of what makes for family. It is also the healing that you can bring to another as you deal with your past.

    11. Took me 3 days to get to 10% and I still wasn’t really interested in either character decided to move on.
